"New Beginnings"

Lunar New Year is perhaps the most recognizable celebration in Vietnamese culture. The models wear ao dai, or traditional clothing, characterized by a long, slim fitting gown worn with loose pants and heels to represent elegance. Photographed at a local temple, this set of photos elevates one's cultural ties.

"Becoming Asian American"

October 2021



“Becoming Asian American” explores the complexities of distinguishing identity among the Asian American diaspora. A reclamation of oriental red and yellow, the bright photographic style explores the personal journey of ethnic heritage at odds against coming of age. Revealed through a series of interviews, the stories of these Asian American students present the impact of cultural division between the nostalgic childhood identity and the burgeoning “American” self.
